Giving the people hope for the future is at the heart of building the Afghan nation because it is critical to stabilizing the rural areas and defeating the insurgency. The people of Zurmatcc feel, at their core,  the importance of reaching out to those areas of the community that need schools for their children, clinics for the sick, wells for clean drinking water and washing, irrigation channels necessary to cultivate the land, village roads and other infrastructure as selected by listening to the people of the community themselves.  One of Zurmat’s engineers serves on the Board of a youth organization and a local anti-narcotics association. These organizations are educating the community about the dangers of narcotics and how to improve quality of life in the community. 

Zurmat’s actions speak louder than words.  On its own the company has built these facilities and stimulated social consciousness in Zurmat project communities. As a result, Zurmat boosts the economic well-being and longer-term sustainability `of what is usually a very poor community. Last but not least, the workers and the community can be proud of their accomplishments in participating in the rebuilding of their own area and lifting the quality of community life while simultaneously helping Zurmat complete the project in a timely and quality way.

Zurmat believes strongly that only by helping the local communities with jobs and a sense of accomplishment and by involving them in the rebuilding of their nation, will Afghanistan grow healthy again, prosper and have a better chance to stabilize contested areas and defeat the insurgency.
